Key Provisions for AI Advisory

  • Appendix B (Quality Assurance): Software V&V requirements. Current framework assumes deterministic software — LLM non-determinism does not fit.
  • 50.59 (Changes, Tests, and Experiments): Screening process for changes without prior NRC approval. Tier 1 AI advisory may proceed through 50.59; Tiers 2-3 require additional review.
  • 50.47 (Emergency Preparedness): Mode transitions from normal through abnormal to emergency with corresponding AI agent activation.
  • 73.54 (Cybersecurity): May not adequately cover AI-specific threats like prompt injection.
